Blue Sky Farm

My blogging posts and photos are part of me . I think of this as a scrapbook of my life. The names have not been changed.. they are real people who have crossed my path along my journey. Some I know intimately, my family and friends. If their names are mentioned it's a sure sign they are special to me and I love them dearly...come along see for yourself, perhaps you know some of them too..

The Day is good

The girls are happy, I let them come out of their cage..They all came running to the gate. "Freedom I think they were clucking.. Yipeee
They love to run and forage for themselves. I hate to keep them "cooped"up in their henhouse & cage. I secretly think they do not mind when the temps are really cold and its raining or snowing.
The sun is suppposed to be shining the next few days so they can stretch their legs and fluff their feathers, take a "dust" bath in the sand ( its kinda dry) they dont seem to mind.. I can watch them from my window as they do that chicken run thing....their wings spread like saddle bags at their sides.. you know what I mean..running to see what another might just have found to eat..but they sure dont like to share...they are so funny.

You can send a little sun my direction! My girls love the rain, silly but they puff their feathers out as to catch the drops and take a shower. Of course they are all tucked in at night with their heat lamp all cozy. Hugs!

I think my chickens would have a stroke if I didn't let them out everyday. Of course, I took the pen down for now and only have a hen house.

I really need to let my girls out to roam too. I dont like seeing them cooped or in there pen all the time either.

I like your "saddle bag" description ... to me it looks like they "hike their bloomers" and take off running. Mine have been let out too, and just love looking for their bugs. The lower yard will be turned over real soon. If I step out the back door, they come running hoping I have some sort of treat for them. I love my girls - they are a great form of entertainment.
