Blue Sky Farm

My blogging posts and photos are part of me . I think of this as a scrapbook of my life. The names have not been changed.. they are real people who have crossed my path along my journey. Some I know intimately, my family and friends. If their names are mentioned it's a sure sign they are special to me and I love them dearly...come along see for yourself, perhaps you know some of them too..

Cleaning the pond

Saturday Morning and a pretty nice day to clean up the pond of the over grown cat tails. This pond is so pretty. The deer come from the hillside to drink and many migrating birds stop as well as our returning mallard ducks. It somehow became over grown with cat tails this summer and we ( Clay ) decided to clean some away.  ( hiding in the tall over growth) I captured a few photos of work in progress.while standing  in the middle of the dry pond bed surrounded by these cattails. He was working so hard  tugging and pulling. These roots go deep.. I was glad to see him take a break. He won't take them all out, some will remain. I am  hopeful we will see the pond full again come Spring when the snow melts, or we will  fill it ourselves. The deer will be happy I am sure. Today was a good day to prepare for winter.. She is coming, sooner than we think.

Oh, yes, you are lucky. I didn't realize you have so much property to care for. It's a big job but oh, such a beautiful place to live.

There is always something to do for sure..I can never say I am bored. We really only have one acre. We just have lots of open space around us. I guess that's what sold us on this place. We just love it!

Oh Cheryl, what a big job!! I can't even imagine doing it by hand. We had to get a small dozer to dig some out of our pond when we moved here as they had taken over. If we could pull them out by hand, we would. I bet that is a beautiful spot and the deer and songbirds visiting sounds heavenly :)
